Accessibility

The Danish Castle Centre is very much focused on accessibility. Wheelchair users can move freely around in the Exhibition Centre, gift shop and restaurant. The exhibition's two floors are linked by elevator.

At the castle ruins there are gravel paths, making it possible to navigate most areas. We've unfortunately not been able to install a lift inside Gåsetårnet.

Accessible toilet

There is an accessible toilet at The Danish Castle Centre. The toilets are publicly available, and are located behind the ticket sales at the entrance.

For the hearing impaired
The key to the exhibition is the Castle Centre's iPad Guide, which all visitors get the use of when they buy their ticket. The Guide's screen shows explanatory animations and films, selected for each item, and all texts are read out loud. Since the films are triggered using a specific code for each different item, we recommend having a companion with you to help start them off.

The exhibition has low lighting throughout, with regard to the preservation of the objects. It is recommended that you bring a companion or a guide cane along in the exhibition.

Guide dogs are welcome in the exhibition. The dog must be fully under the control of its owner, and must not disturb other guests or display any aggressive behaviour.

For the hearing impaired

The key to the exhibition is the Castle Centre's iPad Guide, which all visitors get the use of when they buy their ticket. The Guide's screen displays explanatory animations and films, selected for each item. If you choose the German or English versions, the films have subtitles, giving the option to follow the films using the text.

There's also the option to buy an exhibition catalogue, to take around the exhibition as well as outside to the castle ruins. Much of the contents of the iPad Guide is found printed in the catalogue.

Arrangements for companions
Disabled people who can show a ledsager kort - a 'companion card' - from Danske Handicaporganisationer may take a companion with them for free. The card must be shown at the entrance.
